İkinci Dünya Savaşından sonra, modern dönem düşüncelerinin eleştirileri gündeme gelmiş ve bu dönemde çeşitli tartışmalar vuku bulmuştur. Düşünürler tarafından farklı kavramsal adlandırmaların söz konusu olduğu bu dönem, genel olarak postmodern olarak adlandırılmıştır. 60lı yıllardan sonra düşünsel anlamda yaygınlık kazanmaya başlayan Postmodernizm, Sosyal Bilimlerin önemli bir uğraş alanı olmuş ve çeşitli sanat dallarında sesini duyurmaya başlamıştır. Edebiyat da Postmodernizmin dünyasını metinlere taşımış, Postmodern Edebiyat adı altında bazı özellikler edinmiştir. Bu çalışmada da postmodern dönem genel çerçevesiyle anlaşılmaya çalışılacak, postmodern kavramının çeşitli tanımlarına değinilecek ve çeşitli sanat dallarına yansıması özetlenecektir. Robert Schneider, Avusturya Edebiyatının son dönem yazarlarındandır. Eserlerinden anlaşıldığı üzere, Postmodern Edebiyata ilgi duymuş olan yazar ile ilgili yapılan çalışmaların azlığı sebebiyle ve günümüzde de gündemde olan Postmodern Edebiyata kayıtsız kalmamak adına bu çalışmada, yazarın Ren Üçlemesi olarak adlandırılan eserlerinin Postmodern Edebiyat bağlamında incelemesi yapılacaktır.

After World War II, the critics of modern period came to the fore and entered in a period, in which many arguments occurred. This period, about which were made many notional descriptions by thinkers, was generally named as Postmodern. Postmodernism, which gained wide currency in the meaning of intellectual after 1960s, became an important field of occupation of Social Sciences and started to become popular in different art branches. The literature also carried the world of the postmodernism to the textes and got some specialties under the name of Postmodern Literature. This study aims to understand the general framework of the postmodern period will be referred to the various definitions of the concept of the postmodern and the reflection will summarize the various branches of art. Robert Schneider is one of latest writers of Austrian Literature. As it is seen from his works, he is interested in Postmodern Literature, but there are not many studies about him, that is one of the reasons of doing this study. And in this study, in order not to be indifferent to Postmodern Literature, will be researched the works of writer described as Trilogy of Rhine in the context of Postmodern Literature.
