ADNAN MENDERES’İN YARGILANMASI VE İDAMI

7 Ocak 1946da kurulan Demokrat Parti, 14 Mayıs 1950 milletvekili seçimleriyle tek başına iktidara geldi. Bu tarihten itibaren on yıl süren DP iktidarı, 27 Mayıs 1960 darbesiyle sona erdi. Türk Silahlı Kuvvetlerinin emir komuta zinciri içerisinde gerçekleşmeyen darbe, en üst rütbesi albay olmak üzere bir grup subay tarafından planlandı. Darbeciler tarafından oluşturulan Milli Birlik Komitesi, basın aracılığıyla yaptığı propagandayla darbenin meşruiyetini Türk kamuoyuna anlatmaya çalışıyordu. Diğer taraftansa, İhtilâlin toplum nazarında kabul görmesi için, yargılama süreciyle iktidar mensuplarının itibarının düşürülmesi hedeflenmekteydi. Bu amaç doğrultusunda, Komite tarafından yargılamaların yapılabilmesi için Yüksek Adalet Divanı kuruldu ve partililer Yassıadada yargılandılar. Kararları ve yargılama sürecindeki uygulamaları halen daha tartışılmakta olan Yassıada Mahkemelerinin neticesinde, DPnin önde gelen isimlerinden 14 kişi idama mahkûm edildi. Milli Birlik Komitesi sadece Adnan Menderes, Fatin Rüştü Zorlu ve Hasan Polatkanın idam cezalarını onayladı ve bu üçlü 16-17 Eylül tarihlerinde idam edildiler. Diğer idam cezaları ise komite tarafından müebbet hapis cezasına çevrildi. On yıl boyunca Türkiyede Başbakanlık yapmış olan Adnan Menderesin idamı çok tartışıldı ve halen daha tartışılmaya devam etmektedir. Bu çalışmada darbe sonrası yaşanan gelişmelerle beraber, Menderesin Yassıadada itham olduğu suçlardan yargılanması ve kendisine uygulanan muameleler irdelenmektedir. Menderesin yargılamaların son günlerinde intihara teşebbüs etmesi ve tedavi sürecinde yaşananlar arşiv belgeleri doğrultusunda incelenmektedir. Ayrıca, idamı ve sonrasındaki hadiseler yine belgeler ve olayın tanıklarının ifadeleriyle ele alınmaktadır.

The Trıal And Executıon Of Adnan Menderes

The Democratic Party, founded on January 7, 1946, came to power alone on 14 May 1950 through the elections. The DP government, which has been in power for 10 years since this date, ended with the coup d'état of May 27, 1960. The military coup of the, which did not take place within the command chain of Turkish Armed Forces was planned by a group of officers whose highest ranking person was a colonel. The National Unity Committee, created by the coup, was trying to tell the Turkish people the legitimacy of the coup by propagandas made through media. On the other hand, in order to provide acceptance of coup in the eyes of society it was aimed to reduce the reputation of the members of the ruling party. Towards this end, a High Court of Justice was established by the Committee for prosecution and the members of the Democratic Party were tried in Yassıada. In the consequence of the procesutions executed by Yassıada courts, whose decisions and practices during the prosecution are sill under discussion 14 person were sentenced to death. The National Unity Committee approved the execution of only Adnan Menderes, Fatin Rüştü Zorlu and Hasan Polatkan, and they were executed on 16-17 September. The other death penalties was sentenced to life imprisonment with the committee. The execution of Adnan Menderes who had been prime minister for 10 years in Turkey was longly discussed and still continues to be under discussion. This study examines the prosecution of Menderes with crimes accused for him in Yassıada and the treatments done to him along with the developments after the coup. Menderes' attempted suicide in the last days of the trial and the facts about process of the treatment are examined in the light of archive documents. Furthermore, the execution and the events aftermath of the execution are examined by the documents and statements of the witnesses of the event.
