Bu araştırmanın amacı, özel liselerde öğrenim görmekte olan öğrencilerin okul psikolojik danışmanından yardım alma durumu, tercih yapmayı düşündüğü alan ve tercih durumu ile meslekseçiminde etkili olan faktörleri ortaya koymaktır. Çalışma grubu 2012 – 2013 eğitim öğretim yılında Ankara iline bağlı özel liselerde öğrenimlerine devam eden 414 (189’u kadın ve 224’ü erkek) lise son sınıf öğrencisi oluşturmuştur. Öğrencilerin meslek seçimini etkileyen etmenleri belirlemek amacıyla Meslek Seçimini Etkileyen Etmenler Anketi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonuçları değerlendirildiğinde, öğrencilerin yaklaşık yarısının meslek seçimi sürecinde profesyonel yardım aldıkları ve tercihlerini belirginleştirdikleri görülmektedir. Bununla birlikte araştırma sonuçları özel lise öğrencilerinin meslek seçimini etkileyen etmenlerin başında bireysel etmenlerin geldiğini göstermektedir. Araştırmanın diğer bulgularına göre ise öğrencilerin meslek seçimi sürecinde en çok mesleğin öğrencinin hayallerine uygun olması, mesleğe ilişkin faaliyetlerden zevk alınacağının düşünülmesi, mesleğin kişilik özelliklerine uygun olması ve mesleğin kariyerde yükselmeye uygun olması değişkenleri etkili olmaktadır. Bu sonuçlar doğrultusunda ilgili literatür ışığında çeşitli önerilerde bulunulmuştur.

The aim of the study is to reveal the situations about seeking help from school counselor, choice of major and choice options of students who are educated in private high schools and factors which are effective on career choice. Study group was constituted by 414 senior year students (189 of them are female and 224 of them are male) who were attending in private high schools in 2012-2013 academic year in Ankara. Factors Effecting Career Choice Questionnaire was used to determine the factors which affect the career choice of the students. When the results of the study are evaluated, it is seen that almost half of the students receive professional help during the career choice process and make their decisions clearly. The results of this study indicated that the most important factor which effects the career choice of private high school students were the personal factors. According to another finding of the study, students’ dreams about the profession, consideration of the enjoyment of occupational activities, appropriate personal characteristics and career advancement would be effected during to career choice process. According to this results suggestion are made in the light of literature.
